Exceptions report: every unfinished task and its reason

A field manager reviews every task left undone last week, grouped by reason, and finds one store refusing displays three weeks running.

The story

Claire · Field manager · Sydney Metro team

Every Monday at 9:00 Claire opens the exceptions report. Last week her team of eight completed 412 of 437 tasks. The 25 left undone are grouped by reason: 11 out of stock, 7 refused by store, 4 store closed for refit, 3 not enough time. Five of the seven refusals are at Metro Grocer Marrickville, which has refused the display three weeks running. She books a visit with the store manager herself for Wednesday.

  1. No task closes without a reasonReps can't check out with unfinished tasks unless they pick a reason, so the report is complete.
  2. Patterns, not one-offsGrouping by reason and store shows the repeat problem that a single visit note would hide.
  3. Ready on Monday morningThe report is built from synced visits, so nobody has to compile it over the weekend.
